Glimmers in Action - Our first podcast appearance!
Written by Jess & Jenna
As career coaches, we are constantly encouraging others. To take the leap. To reach out to others. To prototype an idea, even if not fully “ready.” Sharing mantras to spark inspiration and create momentum. Recently, we had the opportunity to practice what we preach!
Being guests on a podcast was a bit of a “pie-in-the-sky” idea we tossed around in the early days before launching Glimmers. Nothing serious. Just an idea that sounded fun and impactful.
On February 25th (exactly 6 months to the day after launching Glimmers), we were honored to be guests on the Career Contessa podcast. And last week our episode went live! A full circle moment, for sure.
Throughout the podcast prep process, many of the Glimmers we talk about came to life for us. As first-time podcast guests, we experienced a mix of nerves, excitement, anticipation, and moments of imposter syndrome. And to move through those emotions, we found ourselves returning to the very advice we often share with others.
It was a powerful reminder that these Glimmers aren’t just concepts. They’re meant to be put into practice! And in going through this experience ourselves, a few key lessons stood out:
Send the email (the stewing is worse than the doing!) - Sometimes the hardest part is simply reaching out. Hitting send. Putting yourself out there without knowing what will come back. But nothing happens until you take that first step. And in this case, one email opened the door to our first podcast appearance.
Choose the right topic - When we were asked to pitch a few podcast topics, we kept coming back to one: “running the race”. It’s something we talk about all the time. The pressure to keep up, to compare, to constantly feel the need to do more. If we can help even a few people step off that treadmill, it would be worth it.
Preparation matters - Once we received possible podcast questions, we spent time discussing and writing down how we would approach each answer. What story could we tell? How could we divide and conquer? We each took ownership of different ideas and seamlessly answered each prompt with our own thoughts, but together as a team.
Practice aloud - While we all spend a lot of time rehearsing things in our heads, there is nothing better than practicing aloud. It forces clarity. It allows you to see what is working and what needs improvement. So before recording, that’s what we did. We practiced - while driving, walking, whenever we could to feel natural and ready.
The power of a reframe - When the spiraling thoughts showed up, it was important to pause, notice them, and consider a reframe. To anchor in what we have done, rather than what we haven’t. While being on a podcast was new, the core of it wasn’t. We were talking about ideas we love. We’ve tag-teamed presentations before. We’ve supported others through these exact conversations. A simple shift in perspective reminded us: we can do this!
Just like starting Glimmers, we wanted to have fun with the experience. Even as beginners, and even with a few butterflies, we wanted to enjoy it. And we did! These are the conversations that energize us and remind us why we do this work.
We are so excited to share our episode, Why Are We Racing? How to Navigate the Modern Rat Race with all of you. Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen! Sometimes the biggest Glimmers come when you put an idea out into the world and do the hard work to bring it to life. Now, we need to celebrate the win!

so exciting, can’t wait to listen!!
